Marina Chiara Garassino, MD, stepped into a role as professor of medicine in the Section of Hematology/Oncology at the University of Chicago Department of Medicine in March 2021, making a move from one of the most renowned comprehensive cancer centers in Italy, the Istituto Nazionale dei Tumori of Milan, where she led the Thoracic Medical Oncology Unit.
An internationally recognized expert in the treatment of thoracic malignancies, Dr. Garassino has helped develop oncologic precision medicines and immunotherapies and is the author or co-author of over 175 peer-reviewed publications.
She is a co-leader of TERAVOLT, a global registry for patients with thoracic cancers and COVID-19.
